What’s going on, weather? Are you feeling hot and bothered? Damp and gloomy? Easy, breezy beautiful? You don't seem to know whether you wanna rain or shine, beam or blow. We’re worried about you, bro.
Well, to be honest, we’ve also got a bit of a selfish interest: A gal’s gotta know if it’s a sundress or sweater kind of week! This climate change has seriously left us in the lurch. But we’re keeping our eyes on something that's bound to look chic no matter what apparel we're rocking: It’s accessories to the rescue with Jana Lam’s upcoming collab, arm candy that will stand shoulder to shoulder with you through fall’s flighty forecasts. Phew.
Lam’s signature, hand-drawn patterns and totally wearable designs have made her clutches our go-to for years, thanks to some unbelievably pretty products and a local manufacturing setup that we can really get behind. So, when we got wind that Lam is not only bringing her bags back to HONOLULU Fashion Week this year, she’s also toting along a couple of hot new items in luxurious leather, we had to know more.
Lam called in fashionable reinforcements and teamed up with fellow maker Erin Sim from Umbrella Collective. Sim, who’s living the Pacific Northwest life in Portland right now but has ties to the Islands, specializes in beautifully crafted leather bags. Lam’s always dreamed of putting her lovely prints on leather, so the duo got to it, testing varieties of inks and screens before they were successful, and the result is an elegant accessorizing dream. Featuring Lam’s classic banana leaf pattern, the leather designs come in a big hobo, mini hobo or wristlet style, in black, gray, camel and turquoise.
You'll get to take a first peek of these beauties at the Jana Lam booth in the HONOLULU Fashion Week Marketplace, but be quick! The ladies made a scant 35 pieces for the debut and, with this level of sophisticated craftsmanship, we don't think they'll stick around long.
In other words, you'll want to be at this Marketplace—come wind, come weather.
